A 48 year old male patient recently had an above elbow amputation on his dominant extremity. The patient is being seen for OT in order to donn and doff clothes using a myoelectric prosthesis. The OT observes the patient shifting his weight from side to side and losing balance when attempting to complete the dressing task independently. What would be the best intervention to facilitate next with this patient? A) Have the patient practice the controls in front of a mirror B) Have the patient to lean on the non dominant extremity as a compensatory strategy C) Practice dynamic weight shifting using a balance cushion D) Practice a variety of movement patterns without the prosthesis
