As the end of the year is fast approaching, we would like to provide our current and future students with some effective ways to stay motivated so that you can enter 2022 with renewed hope and energy to conquer the NBCOT® exam.

TAKE CONTROL

Some things are within your control, while other things are not. Learn to recognize the difference. Refuse to worry about circumstances beyond your control. Focus your energy on passing the exam, this time. What was in the past remains there and you have a bright future ahead of you. You may not be able to control what life will throw at you, but you can be proactive and take control of your studying.

HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF EXPECTANCY & BE POSITIVE

You get what you expect. Expect that you will pass the exam and you will. Choose success. By creating a mental picture of yourself passing the exam, you can increase your chances of success. Visualize yourself succeeding. Visualization is a powerful technique that can help keep you focused, motivated and help you achieve your goals.

Positive affirmations. Words have a creative force. Regardless of what is going on around you, speak out loud about what you want to happen. Write out an affirmation that you can say daily and put it up somewhere that you are sure to see it every day, like your bathroom mirror or your refrigerator. Positive thoughts lead to positive actions, and self-affirming statements will help you to achieve your best. Positivity will lead to accomplishment. Say aloud each morning to yourself in the mirror, “I expect to, and I am going to pass the NBCOT® exam!”

LESS IS MORE

Try not to use too many resources. This will just lead to frustration and feelings of being overwhelmed by too much information, which can sometimes be contradictory.

has all the information you will need to pass the exam. Our information is structured to give you a multi-sensory approach to learning. We have excellent worksheets, with the most important information highlighted. There are videos, audios and recordings of group tutoring sessions to compliment the worksheets.

   MAKE A PLAN

There is a very popular saying: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” When you take time to plan, you allow yourself to think through the entire process from beginning to end. This can improve productivity and ensure a great outcome. Once you have a written agenda, you are immediately going to be motivated to accomplish it. Pass the OT has a schedule designed to meet your needs. Make use of the schedule and the process of studying for the exam will be planned out for you.

   GET ORGANIZED

Make sure your workplace is uncluttered so your mind can be organized. Your best and most productive work is usually done when you’re “in the zone”. Ask yourself how to create the perfect environment for you to do your best work. A calm environment gives you a better chance of being more efficient and productive.

    NO TO MULTITASKING

Don’t divide your attention but give your full and undivided self to the task at hand. When you do, your chances for success improve dramatically.

YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE

We should always remember to treat our bodies with the utmost respect. Treating your body as a temple by keeping mentally and physically healthy will give your brain the best chance to retain what you are studying. Give yourself the best chance of being in a positive state of mind by exercising regularly, eating healthily, and getting regular good quality sleep.

   EMBRACE YOUR EMOTIONS

We need to remind ourselves that it’s okay to experience negative emotions from time to time. We all have experienced them because they are a natural part of life. After all, without sadness, we wouldn’t know joy. Pay attention to your feelings. If this is not the first time you are taking the exam, that’s ok. It’s ok to feel sad that you didn’t pass but to give yourself the best chance to succeed this time, means letting go of what happened previously and rather focusing on what can and will be.

BUILD A SUPPORT SYSTEM

Having the right team in place to help you is crucial to your success. You will be amazed at what you can accomplish when you have people helping you to work toward achieving your goal. It is worth the effort to put the right support system in place. Make use of the tutors at Pass the OT. They have been on the same path as you are currently on, and they have great ways to help you master content and learn strategies of how to break-up exam questions.

   CELEBRATE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Always take time out to celebrate. Rewards play a huge part in staying motivated. Reward yourself each and every time you reach a goal even if it’s small such as reading through one worksheet. It can be as simple as going out for an ice cream. Reward yourself, you are worth it!

From all of us at Pass the OT

Wishing you health, happiness and success during this Holiday Season and into the New Year.
