Module 3: An OT is providing hand therapy to Jenette, a 66 year old woman who underwent joint arthroplasty to her right hand 4 weeks prior. Jenette is anxious to resume her active lifestyle and tells the therapist that her friend gave her a stress ball to help strengthen her hand. What should the OT tell Jenette about using the stress ball? Perform a gross grasping exercise but limit it to 5 repetitions at a time. A stress ball is not the correct exercise equipment and she should use therapy putty instead. Strengthening exercises should be approved by Jenette’s surgeon. Under no circumstances should Jenette use the stress ball at this time. Marked as spam
